Stanford Routt is a former NFL Defensive Back. The Oakland Raiders drafted him in the second round, where he was a cornerstone of their defense for seven years. And he played for both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans before he retired.
Since retiring, Routt has become an NFL host and analyst. You can see him adding perspective and opinion on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Speak For Yourself on Fox Sport 1, and he has also been a contributor on the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. His analysis of the game has positioned him to work on the following radio platforms; SiriusXM, iHeart Radio, Yahoo Sports Radio, and CBS Sports Radio.
Before playing a single down in the NFL, Stanford recorded one of the fastest times in the NFL combine, his 40-yard dash record in 2005 is still in the top 10. While at the University of Houston his focus was both football and track and field. His foot speed led him to become a semifinalist in the 200-meters at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials.
As a Defensive Back coach for St. Thomas High School in Houston, Stanford fulfills his passion for football and developing the next generation of student-athletes.
